One of my favorite cafés in Beirut is Balima. It is located in a wonderfully hidden place in Saifi Village. The picture above, taken in September, shows the bright and stylish atmosphere created by the surrounding traditional buildings. The place is charming and makes you feel like sitting in a warm and illuminated cocoon. For maximum relaxation on one of the few sofas outside, make sure to get there early… (sorry!). The croissants are delicious, and the scrambled eggs look like a piece of art (served over a cup of hot water) – which goes well with the originality of this so-called Quartier des Arts. Since it was too rainy today and the chairs were turned up, we chose another café not far from Saifi, and it was a super nice surprise (more later).
