In an attempt to fight against the rain and the dark sky on Saturday, I met with a friend at Ginette in Gemmayzeh (here). This spacious café/restaurant was mentioned on the Daily Star’s innovative “Lubnan”-page that gives tips, for example, on “Where to find the best brunches in Beirut” (check out here). Ginette’s main characteristics are for me 1. the incredibly tempting fresh gâteaux, 2. the cute little shop where they sell (expensive!) clothes and gold accessories aaand 3. the special corner of “illy” products including espresso machines in a very romantic retro look and artful coffee cups. But most of all, I was impressed by the wonderful staff who met all our special wishes in total kindness and politeness, including taking endless photos of us for my friend’s facebook “check-in”!
