Lina’s Café

I need to improve my English, that’s why I try to read (reading?) the Economist regularly. Sometimes in a café, like here at café Lina’s, with its nostalgic view at these Lebanese flags, the old (and very slowly moving) bus and that cute oldtimer telephone box. The flags replace the huge Christmas tree and will soon be replaced by ads on the occasion of Ramadan. But the very best thing here is the Zara joy box on the left, where I bought a laced dress, a studded shirt, sparkling pumps… Where did I learn those English adjectives? Not from the Economist anyway!

  1. just up the hill, behind the photo, was the first National Church in Lebanon – hardly fits in to the new downtown look – by the way, how’s your French?

you seem to know Lebanon very well.. you mean the first evangelical church? – my French is “pas mal” by the way 😉

      • yeah – first evangelical church – pastor there is a friend of mine – that is one of the reason I go to Lebanon 2 or 3 times a year – my French is “un peu”
so why learn Arabic when I can freshen up my French?
