Bint Jbeil lies at the end of the world (here)! Which means only a few kilometers from the Southern border. Have you ever been there? It’s a lovely, green and calm rural area, full of olive trees, beautiful coquelicot flowers and tobacco fields. Tobacco that is being subsidized by the Lebanese government and that’s not good enough for sale abroad, as a manager at a tobacco company recently told me (which made me really sad!). I was in Bint Jbeil recently and discovered a food cooperative run by very impressive female “managers”! You can find their shop in the city center, “bil séha”. I came back with a joy box full of jams, molasses, spices and honey. Yummyyy!
