For a long time I thought DRM in Beirut had to be something socialist, since it reminded me of DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik). The Democratic Republic of Music (here) is a lovely club in the heart of Hamra (at least I wasn’t so wrong with the DR part). We discovered first the restaurant (ground floor) and enjoyed the food and their very kind staff. We went back recently for a benefit event (underground) to support reading in Lebanon. The super cute student band above was one of the performers, they’re called “Vocal point Beirut”. The best part of the evening: I won a prize at the tombola, a “Body Assessment Session”! Don’t ask what this is, I didn’t even call yet. Still enjoying the feeling of having finally won something! Chou cool!
